The Investor
What if the audience backed the projects it listens to?
Length of the orals8 to 100 playersIn person
The Investor turns a series of presentations into an investment simulation. Players come to defend a project: a business plan, a hackathon deliverable, a design sprint or a course presentation. The rest of the group watches the presentations, then chooses whether or not to back each project, as an investor would. A scoring system, run by the players or by the facilitation team, then gives each project a value. That value determines which projects win, and by how much. Players then get their stake back, or even make a profit.
What participants take away
- Analyse a presentation and spot the elements that make a project promising
- For teachers: keep students active during oral presentations. When you have a stake, you are more invested.
Who is it for?
Higher education institutions, secondary schools and companies (at the end of a hackathon or design sprint). The game adapts to any course that ends with a graded oral presentation with a marking scheme.
Going further
The Investor is built into my entrepreneurship course, but it can be used in any subject that ends with an oral presentation. It pairs naturally with The Beginning: you build your project with one, you defend it with the other.
Availability
Available to run as part of my entrepreneurship course. For other contexts (companies, secondary schools, higher education outside entrepreneurship), an adaptation is needed: let’s talk.
Already played in 2 sessions, with 30 players.
